Sainte-Anne Kergonan was founded in 1897 by ten monks from Saint Peter's Abbey Solesmes. The liturgical life of the brothers at St. Anne is dense and the study and practice of Gregorian chant occupies an important place. But the monks are also potters, and cultivate a huge apple orchard ... "Dilatato corde, " with 'With enlarged/generous heart'- is the motto of the abbot, taking the prologue to the Rule of St. Benedict.
The town of Carnac, Brittany, in the heart of the Bay of Quiberon, the abbey of Saint-Anne Kergonan houses a young community of 36 Benedictines.
Cloistered, but open to the world, they reflect with holidaymakers, the joy of a life offered to God. |
